A few years younger than Umiliana Dei Cerchi, Umiltà came from a noble family of Faenza (near Ravenna). She too was forced to marry, but when her children died, Umiltà convinced her husband to part in order for her to live a more dedicated religious life. After several attempts of joining different religious communities, Umiltà liveds as a recluse and fame of her spiritual power grew. Umiltà dictated a series of homilies and spiritual treatises to her monastic disciple Margaret of Faenza.
